“Makeover Mondays”, set to begin in June
Local salon to commence six months of makeovers for deserving community members.
Saratoga Springs, New York - Hair Creations, located on 12 Phila Street will commence a six-month complimentary makeover event beginning the last Monday in June. The event, called “Makeover Mondays”, will center on giving back to six special women in the community. Each month’s recipients will be chosen based on the following criteria:
- June 27: A professional woman who has fallen on hard times due to the present economic climate, and thus, may need some assistance with appearance enhancement before starting the interview process. Nomination deadline is Saturday June 18. Voting is from Sunday June 19 – Wednesday June 22.
- July 25: A deserving woman who has been - for a significant period of time - selflessly advocating for a cause and/or volunteering her time. Nomination deadline is Saturday July 16. Voting is from Sunday July 17 – Wednesday July 20.
- August 29: A Dress for Success female client who requires help with appearance enhancement as she heads out into the job field. Only Dress for Success clients can be nominated for this month. Nomination deadline is Saturday August 20. Voting is from Sunday August 21 – Wednesday August 24.
- September 26: A local woman in the community who is considered a hero in an extraordinary way. Nomination deadline is Saturday September 17. Voting is from Sunday September 18 – Wednesday September 21.
- October 24: A woman who has survived cancer, or another life threatening illness, and is at the point in her recovery in which she is ready to feel a sense of rejuvenation of both her appearance and spirit. Nomination deadline is Saturday October 15. Voting is from Sunday October 16 – Wednesday October 19.
- November 28: A woman who has been a selfless caregiver (for example, taking care of a loved one who has fallen ill) and deserves renewal of both body and spirit. Nomination deadline is Saturday November 19. Voting is from Sunday November 20 – Wednesday November 23.
“The primary focus of “Makeover Mondays” is to give back to deserving people in the community,” said Hair Creations owner and stylist Jaysie Walts. “We’re excited to showcase how inner and outer beauty can work simultaneously to bring a sense of self-worth, strength, confidence, and happiness.”
The criteria for each month were chosen by the staff at Hair Creations. The salon is asking people in the Saratoga Springs community to nominate someone they feel fits one of the above themes.
The steps to nominate someone are simple:
Email MakeoverMondays@haircreationssalon.com with details of the nominee’s story along with a current photo of the nominee and their contact information (name, phone number, address, and email address). Nominations should be done in an altruistic fashion; that is to say, nominate someone else and someone truly deserving. Candidates who are nominated should be available all day on the appropriate Monday and be open to a makeover experience, as well. Hair Creations will read each story and pick the top three nominees. Those three stories will then be posted on Hair Creations’ Facebook page, where people will vote for the nominee they feel is most deserving of a makeover. The nominee whose story receives the most votes will receive the Makeover Monday experience. Hair Creations will also give the two remaining nominees a gift certificate for any one service during the salon’s hours of operation, as well as a complimentary Bumble and bumble product that suits their hair type.
The nominee who is chosen for Makeover Mondays will come in for an initial consultation prior to the makeover and then on the last Monday of the appropriate month. Hair Creations encourages the person who nominated the makeover candidate (or a close friend) to also come in the day of the makeover to share in the experience and offer support and a sense of familiarity.
“Makeover Mondays” is an experience in which the makeover recipient receives the Hair Creations Full Service client experience. That is, an in-depth customized consultation, education on how to style her hair and which hair care products will help to enhance and maintain the new style, a complimentary hair color and hair cut, and complimentary Bumble and bumble hair products to help maintain her new look. In addition, the makeover recipient will start the day with a transformational massage from Healing Spirit Massage, receive a professional make-up application by Amy Elizabeth, a new ensemble from Violet’s and Stella’s of Saratoga, and a photo session from Niki Rossi Photography. Spring Street Deli and Pizzeria will also provide food and beverages on the day of each makeover. Hot Yoga Saratoga is generously donating a complimentary month of yoga to each recipient. Saratoga Olive Oil Co. will be hosting the Makeover Mondays Reveal Parties.

Due to the success of our Saturday Night Style Bar, we are now offering the Style Bar Service during the week because we know the need for fun hair is not only for Saturdays! A Style Bar Service is a 30-minute, no wash service designed to give you a quick way to change up your look for the night. Choose from different looks for inspiration such as a Shaken Not Stirred: tousled and wavy to a Straight Up: polished upstyle, or a Style Bar Special where you let us choose a look and you rock the look!
Please call ahead for an appointment Tuesday-Friday and ask for a Style Bar Service. The Saturday Night Style Bar will continue the last Saturday of every month from 5pm-8pm and is available for walk-ins or reservations for parties of 6 or more.

Bumble and bumble has GEL! In response to the incessant requests for Bumble and bumble to develop a gel, Bumble is launching two new gels. Bb. gel is the more flexible, medium hold product. On the other hand, gellac, aptly named for its shellac quality, can aid in achieving that classic slicked back style or other finished looks that require a strong hold. Look for the Bb. gels to arrive at Hair Creations in early March ‘09

Hair Creations has Bb. Treatment!
Hair Creations has launched Bb. Treatment. This exclusive line has brought the Bumble and bumble Network Salon to the full service level. Now every client that comes into Hair Creations can expect a complimentary treatment with any service. Treatments include Damage Therapy for clients who chemically treat their hair; Dehydration Therapy for clients who have naturally dry, curly, and/or frizzy hair, heat styling damage, or environmental damage; Density Therapy for clients who are experiencing thinning hair; and Scalp Rebalancing Therapy for clients who have dry, itchy, or oily scalp. Anyone who needs a treatment receives a treatment in the salon and clients are able to purchase at-home Treatments as well.
